Upgrading
-
Settings → Plan → Change or upgrade plan, or tap See plans or any paywall you run into.
-
Pick the plan, monthly or annual.
-
Tap Continue with and the plan's name.
-
Confirm with Apple (Face ID). It unlocks straight away.
Upgrading doesn't ask you to confirm anything beyond Apple's own prompt — there's nothing to lose, so there's nothing to warn you about.
Downgrading
You can do this inside Deeta:
-
Settings → Plan → Change or upgrade plan.
-
Pick the lower plan and tap Continue with its name.
-
Deeta shows you what you'll lose on that plan before anything happens, and when the change takes effect.
-
Tap Confirm downgrade — or Keep your current plan to back out.
Nothing is bought at that moment. The downgrade is scheduled: you keep the plan you have until the current period ends, then move to the lower one. You won't be charged again until that renewal.
You keep the higher plan until the current period ends. You've paid for it. The change takes effect at the next renewal date, and nothing is refunded — that's Apple's model, not ours.
You can also do it on Apple's own screen: Settings → Plan → Manage in App Store.
Cancelling
Settings → Plan → Manage in App Store, and cancel there. You stay on your plan until the period ends, then drop to Free.
What happens to what you've made
Nothing is deleted, ever. Not when you downgrade, not when you cancel.
Above the Free limits, things become read-only rather than disappearing:
-
More than 20 contacts with deets? They're all still there and still readable. You can't add deets to more contacts until you're under the limit or back on a paid plan.
-
More than 3 top-level groups? All still there. You can't make new ones.
-
Your AI allowance drops back to 10 queries a month, and Private Mode stays unlimited.
-
More live cards than your new plan allows? They all keep updating. New shares go as snapshots until you're under the limit (5 on Free, 15 on Plus).
Upgrade again and everything unlocks exactly as it was.
The confirmation sheet lists the same things for the plan you're moving to, so you see them before you decide rather than afterwards.
Moving to a lower plan and live updates
Live updates you're already sending keep going. Nothing pauses, and nobody you've shared with notices a thing. What changes is how many new live cards you can start: 15 on Plus, 5 on Free. Past that, a new share goes as a snapshot — it sends everything you have now and won't update afterwards.
Dropping below Power
If you'd downloaded the enhanced on-device model, the file stays on your phone. It stops being used for answers, and you can delete it whenever you like to reclaim the space. Re-subscribe and it starts working again immediately.
Switching monthly to yearly
Same as upgrading. Apple credits the unused part of your month against the year.
Troubleshooting
I upgraded and nothing unlocked. Give it a moment, then Restore purchases in Settings → Plan. If it persists, close and reopen Deeta.
"Your purchase is pending approval." Ask to Buy is on for this Apple ID — a parent or guardian needs to approve it. The plan unlocks once they do.
"Couldn't complete your purchase. Please try again." Nothing was charged. Try again; if it keeps failing, check your payment method on Apple's screen.
I confirmed a downgrade and nothing changed. That's right — it's scheduled, not immediate. You keep your current plan until the period ends. Check the renewal date in Settings → Plan.
I downgraded and I'm still being charged the old price. The change lands at the next renewal. Check the renewal date in Settings → Plan, or Apple's subscription screen.
I cancelled but Deeta still shows Plus. Correct — you keep it until the period ends.
I want a refund. Refunds are Apple's, not ours: reportaproblem.apple.com.
I'm on Free again and my deets are gone. They aren't. Open any contact — everything you wrote is there. Downgrading only stops you adding beyond the limits.
I upgraded and my old shares still aren't updating. Shares that went out as snapshots — because you were at your live-card limit, or sent before live updates came to every plan — stay snapshots. Share again for a live one. See Turning on live updates for cards you already have.
Can I get back the plan I had before? Yes, any time, at the current price.
Questions
Does upgrading cost me anything immediately? Yes, the prorated difference for the remainder of the period.
Can I downgrade mid-month to stop paying? Not mid-period. The plan you've paid for runs to its end.
Can I change my mind after confirming a downgrade? Yes — pick your old plan again before the renewal date, or manage it on Apple's screen.
Does cancelling delete my account? No. To delete the account, see Exporting or deleting your data.
Will I be warned before my deets become read-only? Yes — twice, in fact: the downgrade sheet lists what you'll lose before you confirm, and you'll see it again when you try to add.
