Normally a card you send is a snapshot — a copy of your details as they were the day you sent it. If you change your number afterwards, their copy still shows the old one.
Live updates change that. Send a live card and your details keep themselves current on the other person's phone. Change your number once, and everyone you've shared with has the new one.
It works both ways: you can send live cards, and you can receive them from other people.

Two things worth knowing up front
Nothing is applied behind your back. When someone updates a detail, you decide what happens to your copy. You can set each person to Always (their changes land straight away), Ask (you get a card to review), or Mute. The one exception is a removal: if they delete a detail or take their details back, it leaves your copy whatever your setting, and Deeta lists what went.
There are two ways to stop sending, and they do different things. Stop updating leaves them what they already have — it just stops changing. Take back also removes the details that share gave them from Deeta on their phone, once their phone receives it. Neither can remove a copy they've made some other way. See Who has your profile.
