Forgotten your password? This takes a minute.
Your contacts are unaffected. Resetting a password doesn't touch anything on your iPhone.
How
-
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?
-
Enter the email you signed up with.
-
Check your inbox for a link from Deeta.
-
Open the link on your iPhone — it opens Deeta.
-
Choose a new password.
-
You're signed in.
The email is deliberately vague
It says a link has been sent whether or not there's an account with that address. That's on purpose — otherwise anyone could use the form to find out who has a Deeta account.
So "I got the confirmation but no email" usually means you signed up with a different address.
Choosing a password
Long beats complicated. A few unrelated words is stronger than one word with symbols in it — and easier to remember.
Best of all, let your iPhone generate one and save it to your keychain.
Troubleshooting
No email arrived. Check spam. Give it a couple of minutes. Then consider whether you used a different address — or signed up with Apple or Google, in which case there's no Deeta password at all.
"This link has expired." Reset links are short-lived for safety. Request a new one.
"This link has already been used." Each works once. Request another.
The link opened Safari, not Deeta. Open the email in Mail on the iPhone you asked for the reset from, and tap the link there. A reset link only works on that iPhone. If Safari shows a Deeta page saying Finish this in the Deeta app, that's why.
I signed up with Apple or Google. There's no password to reset. Use Continue with Apple or Continue with Google — or set one up via Settings → Account → Set or change password, which is what you'd need for the website. See Signing in and out.
It asks for a 6-digit code after I reset. That's two-factor. Enter the code from your authenticator, or use a recovery code. See Two-factor authentication.
I reset it and Deeta is empty. Resetting doesn't clear anything. If Deeta is empty you're likely on a new device, or signed in to a different account. See If your account is empty.
Questions
Does resetting sign me out elsewhere? Yes — other devices will need the new password.
Can I change it without forgetting it? Yes: Settings → Account → Set or change password. If you haven't signed in recently, Deeta asks you to log out and back in first.
Can I change my email address? Yes, in Settings → Account. You'll confirm it from the new address, and you'll be asked for a two-factor code if you have it on.
Does Deeta see my password? No. It's never stored in a readable form.
