Claiming a card when you already have Deeta

You already use Deeta and someone sends you their card. This is the quickest path there is — tap, confirm, done.

How it works

Tap the link. Deeta opens directly — no browser, no App Store.
You'll see whose card it is and what they've shared. The screen also tells you the sender will see your name and verified email when you import.
Tap Import.
Done. Deeta opens their contact, with a note of how many details it added.

If tapping the link didn't work

Go back to the message and tap the link again. If it opens in your browser rather than Deeta, make sure you have the latest version of Deeta, then tap it again.

Nothing is claimed until you tap Import, so trying again is safe.

If you already have that person

Deeta notices and asks rather than creating a duplicate: You already have [name] in your contacts, with Merge into existing, Add as new, or Skip.

What you get

Everything the sender chose to include — their standard contact details, plus any richer details they added and marked as shareable.

Their phone number and email arrive as real contact fields, not just notes, so caller ID works and you can tap to call.

Troubleshooting

The link opened my browser instead of the app. Close the browser page and tap the link again. If it keeps happening, update Deeta to the latest version.

It says the card has already been claimed. A link can be claimed once, by one person. If you already claimed it — perhaps on another device — the person is already in your contacts there. If not, ask the sender for a new link.

It says the link expired. Links last 24 hours. Ask the sender to send a new one.

I claimed it but can't find the person. Deeta opens their contact as soon as the import finishes. If you've closed it, check the Contacts tab and search for their name. If the sender only shared a first name, they may be filed differently than you expect.

I accidentally merged two different people. Open the contact and edit it to remove the details that don't belong.

Questions

Does the sender know I accepted? Yes. They see your name and your verified email address. That's how they know their card arrived, and it's what lets them keep it up to date for you.

Can I refuse the card? Just don't claim it. Nothing is saved until you tap Import. Tapping Cancel doesn't use up the link, so you can open it again while it lasts.

Will their details overwrite mine? No. If you already have that person, Deeta asks before merging anything — and later updates from them are yours to accept or decline.

Do I have to share back? No. The offer is optional and dismissing it does nothing else.
